Error Code R-1-5

Ice maker failed to produce ice after three complete harvest cycles

Moderate

Address soon - your appliance may not work properly

Also displayed as: R-1-5 (LED blink pattern on panel)

What This Means

Ice maker level sensor failure; Water supply not reaching ice maker (valve, line, or pressure issue); Ice maker motor failure; Ice bucket full sensor stuck

What actually causes this:

Water supply is blocked or the water valve is faulty, so the ice maker keeps cycling without making ice.

First Thing to Check

Check that the household water supply valve behind the fridge is fully open and the ice maker arm is in the down (on) position.

Parts Involved

How to Fix

  1. 1

Press the ICE MAKER TEST switch for over 1.5 seconds to initiate a test cycle

  2. 2

Verify water valve operates (listening for click) when dispenser switch is pressed

  3. 3

Check MAIN PCB CN75 #5 (Black) — should be DC 0V when test switch is pressed

  4. 4

    Measure IC01 MICOM #39 voltage — should cycle Ready(0V) → Rotate(4.9V) → Before Complete(4.9V) → Return(0V)

  5. 5

    Measure IC01 MICOM #38 voltage — should cycle Ready(0V) → Rotate(0V) → Before Complete(4.9V) → Return(0V)

  6. 6

Measure ice maker heater resistance: 91 ohm (at 364V) ±7%

  7. 7

    Measure ice maker motor CW: 13P #11 (White) to CN70 #9 (Red) — 200 kΩ ±30%; CCW: 13P #13 (Pink) to CN70 #9 (Red)
