Error Code F-FAN ERROR
Freezer fan motor is not spinning or not sending a rotation signal
Critical
Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue
Also displayed as: LED blinks (Freezer Fan Error)
What This Means
Fan motor mechanical failure (foreign object blocking, ice buildup); Bad wiring connection to fan motor; No pulse signal returned to MICOM after motor on command; Main PCB relay or driver failure
What actually causes this:
Ice buildup around the fan blade is by far the most common cause. The motor itself fails less often. Wiring connectors loosening from vibration is the second most common issue.
First Thing to Check
Open the freezer, listen for any fan noise during forced-operation mode; if nothing, check if ice is jamming the blades behind the evaporator cover.
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
Verify compressor is running (fan should run when compressor is ON)
- 2
Check external temperature is above 66.2°F (19°C) — fan may not run below ~59°F (15°C)
- 3
Measure voltage between CN20-18 (W/BLK) and CN20-16 (S/RED): should be DC 7–12V
- 4
If 7–12V is present, check pulse signal on CN20-14 (PNK); should alternate between ~7–12V and <2V when fan rotates
- 5
If no pulse, fan or wiring is faulty; replace fan motor
