What This Means

Connector slipped out or open contact; Wire cut or short-circuited; Defective thermistor; Heater continues heating during defrost for more than 80 minutes

What actually causes this:

Defrost heater relay stuck closed, thermistor fails, or wiring shorted to ground

First Thing to Check

Turn off power, disconnect CN70_1, measure resistance of heater element

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Disconnect MAIN PCB CN70_1 and read resistance between Orange and Brown wire terminals

  2. 2

    0 Ohm reading indicates heater short circuit

  3. 3

    Infinity Ohm reading indicates wire cut or blown thermistor

  4. 4

    Check wire diagram for normal heater resistance values

  5. 5

    Verify defrost cycle completes within 80 minutes
