What actually causes this:
Something like a coin, hair pin, or small sock is clogging the drain pump filter

Open the small door at the bottom-front of the washer and clean the drain pump filter

1. Check the drain hose for kinks or clogs

2. Clean the drain pump filter — remove any coins, hair pins, rubber bands, or debris

3. Verify the drain pump terminal is connected

4. Check the drain pump operation and resistance — normal: 330 ohm

5. Inspect the drain pump impeller for damage

6. Check the overflow sensor

7. If the unit is frozen, thaw the drain hose with warm water or a hair dryer
