Door or lid won't open

After removing and reinstalling the fridge door (water dispenser model), always run water through the dispenser for at least 1 minute and visually inspect the transparent tube fitting for leaks. The manual specifically calls out using toilet paper against the transparent fitting if visual inspection is insufficient.

If the CO2 cylinder is installed but sparkling water is not being produced, the most commonly missed step is failing to fully press down the lever that locks the cylinder in place. 'If you don't lock the cylinder into place, the refrigerator won't produce sparkling water.' Inner pressure can make the lever stiff — grip as shown in the diagram and push firmly.

To check how much CO2 is left in the SodaStream cylinder (for service technicians), open the fridge door and hold the Energy Saver button for 5 seconds. The refrigerator will inject CO2 for 1 second — you can hear/feel whether gas is present. This works regardless of whether the sparkling water function is on or off.

The disassembly sequence is critical: the fridge doors must be removed first, then the freezer doors. Also, there is a heater wire at the bottom of the freezer compartment door — the heater housing must be disassembled before removing the freezer door, or the cord will be torn.
