3 technician insights for the Samsung WV55M9600A Series Washers (2024)
Excess detergent causes water leakage errors (LC), not just suds
Using too much detergent does not just cause the SUD foaming code — it can cause actual water leakage at the front of the machine (LC error) because foam pushes past the door gasket seal. This is a common misdiagnosis where technicians look for a mechanical leak when the real cause is simply too much soap.
Drain pump has two types with different resistances per washer section
Each washer section (upper and lower) has a main drain pump (13–16.5 ohms) and a bubble drain pump (40–50 ohms). When diagnosing a 5C drain error, make sure you are measuring the correct pump — testing the bubble pump with the main drain pump spec will give a false-positive fault reading.
Winter freeze protection for drain and supply lines
Multiple error codes (4C, 5C, OC, TC1) can be caused by frozen water lines in winter. Before replacing expensive components, always check for freezing first. Use a hair dryer to defrost hoses. If the unit is in a freeze-prone location, consider relocating to a warmer area. Frozen water in the tub can also cause the heater to run dry, triggering HC1 over-temperature shutdown.
