Error Code HE
Heater Error — water not heated or tub temperature exceeds 194°F
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
Also displayed as: HE
What This Means
Wiring connection fault; Inlet water temperature too high (over 185°F / 85°C); Thermistor damaged; Heater element open or out of spec; Main PCB or relay circuit fault
How to Fix
- 1
Step 1: Check connectors RL2 pin4 and RL3 pin4 for disconnection at main PCB; reconnect if needed.
- 2
Step 2: Enter test mode and observe temperature display. If temperature is shown, check whether inlet water temperature exceeds 120°F. If inlet temp is too high, adjust household water heater setpoint to 120°F maximum.
- 3
Step 3: If temperature is not displayed in test mode, check wiring connections and measure thermistor resistance (8-44kΩ).
- 4
Step 4: Measure heater element resistance — should be 11.5Ω ±10% (i.e., approximately 10.35-12.65Ω). If open or out of spec, replace pump casing assembly (heater is integrated).
- 5
Step 5: Measure voltage at RL2 pin4~RL3 pin4 — should be 120V AC ±15%. If absent, replace main PCB assembly.
- 6
Step 6: If voltage is present and heater is in spec but HE persists, replace relay circuit board.
- 7
Step 7: Replace main PCB assembly as last resort.
