How to Fix

  1. 1

Step 1: Determine if E IS was displayed with or without user input. If displayed without user input, this is icing sensor fault. If displayed after pressing test switch within 1 week, this may be ice maker motor/gear/Hall IC fault.

  2. 2

Step 2: Check connector between Main PCB and icing sensor for loose or disconnected pins.

  3. 3

Step 3: Measure icing sensor resistance at current temperature against the FRZ/Icing Sensor table. At room temperature (~68°F/20°C), expected ~3.14 kΩ. If resistance is 0 Ω (shorted) or infinite Ω (open), replace the icing sensor.

  4. 4

Step 4: If connector and sensor are good, inspect ice maker motor, gear, and Hall IC for mechanical damage or binding.

  5. 5

Step 5: If sensor and mechanical parts are good, replace Main PCB.
