What This Means

F defrost sensor housing separated; Sensor connector contact error; Sensor wire disconnection; Sensor short circuit; Sensing temperature above 149°F or below -58°F

What actually causes this:

The defrost sensor wire came loose or the sensor failed, which can cause frost buildup in the freezer

Check for excessive frost or ice buildup in the freezer — this indicates a defrost system problem

How to Fix

  1. 1

    1. Check if Main PCB Connector CN30 is inserted correctly

  2. 2

    2. Check if F DEF Sensor unit is normal by measuring resistance at CN30 #6 to #8 — compare with temperature table

  3. 3

    3. Measure voltage between Main PCB Connector CN30-#6 (Pink) and REG1 Heat Sink — should be between 0.6V and 4.6V

  4. 4

    4. Check input voltage of IC10 MICOM #58 — should match CN30-#6 voltage

  5. 5

    5. If all normal, recheck bad contact of connector
