Error Code 24
Freezer defrost cycle cannot heat up
Critical
Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue
Also displayed as: 24 (Freezer LED blinks)
What This Means
Defrost heater element burned out or open; Bimetal thermostat tripped or defective; Thermal fuse blown; Bad wiring connection at CN70 connector; MAIN PCB relay defect
What actually causes this:
Defrost heater is broken or thermostat is stuck
First Thing to Check
Turn off power and check if heater wire is connected
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Enter self-diagnostic mode to confirm error code 24
- 2
2. Disconnect MAIN PCB CN70 wire from PCB
- 3
3. Measure resistance between CN70 pin 3(BLU) and CN70 pin 1(BLK) — normal: 63 ohm +/-8% (for 120V input) or 230 ohm (for 230V input)
- 4
4. If 0 ohm: heater is shorted. If infinite ohm: wire, bimetal, or heater is open
- 5
5. Check bimetal: OFF at 140F (60C), ON at 104F (40C)
- 6
6. Check thermal fuse: rated AC 250V 10A, trips at 228-230F (109-110C)
- 7
7. If heater circuit is normal, replace MAIN PCB relay or PCB assembly
