Heater disconnected or loose connector; Heater burned out or open circuit; Heater shorted to ground; Bimetal thermostat failed; Wiring harness damage

What actually causes this:

The defrost heater burned out or the control circuit failed

First Thing to Check

Does the freezer ice over instead of defrosts properly? Check for frost buildup inside compressor area

How to Fix

  1. 1

    1. Unplug refrigerator for safety

  2. 2

    2. Disconnect MAIN PCB CN70 wire from PCB

  3. 3

    3. Measure resistance between CN70 Brown ↔ CN72 Black

  4. 4

    4. Normal resistance: 63 ohm ± 7% (230 ohm at 120V input)

  5. 5

    5. If 0 ohm: heater is shorted

  6. 6

    6. If ∞ ohm: heater/wire is open
