Error Code R-1-4

Refrigerator compartment fan motor is not running or not reporting feedback

Moderate

Address soon - your appliance may not work properly

Also displayed as: R-1-4 (LED blink pattern on panel)

What This Means

Fan motor feedback signal line broken or poor contact; Motor winding failure; Motor wire separation or connector loose; Foreign object (ice) blocking fan blade

What actually causes this:

Ice build-up from a previous defrost failure can jam the fan blade, or the motor has worn out.

First Thing to Check

Listen for the fan running; open the fridge panel — if the blade is frozen, run a manual defrost cycle first.

Parts Involved

MOTOR BLDC R-FAN (DREP5020LB)Main PCB (CN76 connector)

How to Fix

  1. 1

Select self-diagnostic function before powering off to confirm the error

  2. 2

  3. 3

Measure voltage between MAIN PCB REG1 Heater Sink and CN76 #4 (Orange) — should be DC 7–12V during operation

  4. 4

    Measure pulse signal at CN76 #8 (R FAN) — should alternate 7–12V / below 2V

  5. 5

Check for ice or physical obstruction on the R-FAN blade

  6. 6

Replace fan motor if voltage is correct but pulse signal is absent
