What actually causes this:
Something small like a coin, hair clip, or piece of fabric got caught in the drain pump filter and is blocking the water from draining.
First Thing to Check
Open the small door or panel at the bottom front of the washer, place a towel down, and unscrew the drain filter cap to check for stuck objects.
