Ovens & Ranges: Won't fill with water

C-72 (water drain failure) often appears in areas with hard water after just 2-3 months of use. The steam heater element generates mineral scale that clogs the drain lines. Regular monthly flushing with descaling solution (vinegar or citric acid-based cleaner) prevents blockages. If blockage occurs, sometimes the pump still works but water flows slowly past the 'maximum drain time' threshold. Try flushing before assuming pump failure.

The water level sensor (used for C-72 detection) is sensitive to mineral deposits in hard water areas. Using distilled water extends sensor life. If C-72 errors occur repeatedly after pump replacement, descale the water system with approved descaling solution.

Steam systems are extremely sensitive to mineral deposits. Using tap water will cause C-70 or C-72 errors within weeks. Always fill steam tank with distilled water only. Recommend customer install whole-house water softener for frequent steam cooking.

Use filtered or distilled water in steam ovens - tap water minerals cause buildup in heater and pump. Descaling every 10 steam uses with vinegar solution prevents most C-72 drain errors and extends pump life significantly.
