Error Code E CH
High-side refrigerant cycle leakage — detected by high-side pressure anomaly (refrigerant leak, restriction, bad compressor, bad valve)

How to Fix
- 1
Use LG SVC App Step 1 to confirm error code E CH and measure evaporator temperature trend. If temperatures are normal, inspect PCB — bad PCB may generate false error; replace PCB if confirmed.
- 2
Use SVC App Step 2 to monitor high/low side pressure and equalization recovery time. If recovery takes more than 15 minutes after compressor shutoff, sealed system is restricted — proceed to restriction check.
- 3
Check equilibrium pressure (SVC App Step 3/4). If equilibrium pressure is greater than 20 psi, refrigerant is adequately charged and compressor is suspect — replace compressor.
- 4
If equilibrium pressure is 20 psi or less, refrigerant has leaked. Begin leak detection on the HIGH-PRESSURE side first: check compressor discharge pipe, drier, condenser, and hot line inlet using a bubble solution or electronic refrigerant leak detector.
- 5
If a leak is found on the high-pressure side: replace the leaking part plus the drier. Evacuate and recharge with R-600a (78 g).
- 6
If no leak found on high-pressure side, inspect the LOW-PRESSURE side (evaporator, suction pipe, evaporator joints).
- 7
If low-pressure side leak is found: replace the leaking part, the drier, AND the compressor (moisture entry degrades compressor oil).
- 8
If no leak is detected but refrigerant is low, install a UV drier to trace the leak on the next service visit using UV light and goggles.
- 9
After sealed system repair, error code clears automatically when freezer temperature reaches 14°F or below.
