Error Code tC
Your dryer's temperature sensor isn't reading correctly
Moderate
Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
Also displayed as: tC
What This Means
Clogged lint filter restricting airflow; Dirty heat exchanger causing abnormal temperature; Thermistor resistance out of range (open or shorted); Thermistor wiring issue
What actually causes this:
Usually a clogged lint screen or blocked exhaust vent — restricted airflow causes the sensor to misread temperatures.
First Thing to Check
Pull out the lint screen and clean off all the lint, then check that your exhaust vent hose isn't kinked or blocked.
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Clean the lint filter thoroughly
- 2
2. Clean the heat exchanger
- 3
3. Measure duct thermistor / discharge thermistor resistance: should be 50 kOhm +/-7% at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F)
- 4
4. Measure EVA in/out thermistor resistance: should be 10 kOhm +/-3% at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F)
- 5
5. If thermistor resistance is out of range, replace the thermistor
- 6
6. If this continues, call for service
