What This Means
Sensor housing separated; Incomplete connector contact; Open-circuited wire; Short-circuit
What actually causes this:
Defrost sensor dislodged from evaporator during a prior service call or the thermistor has failed.
First Thing to Check
Remove the REF evaporator cover and check that the defrost sensor is hooked to the evaporator.

Inspect defrost sensor mounting on fridge evaporator
