How to Fix

  1. 1

Confirm that the house gas shutoff valve is fully open.

  2. 2

Confirm that the dryer gas shutoff valve (installed within 6 ft of dryer) is fully open.

  3. 3

Check that gas supply line is connected and not kinked or damaged.

  4. 4

Turn off gas, disconnect supply hose, and verify no blockage in gas inlet.

  5. 5

Perform gas leak check at all connections using a non-corrosive leak detection fluid after restoring gas.

  6. 6

If gas supply is confirmed adequate and dryer still shows gAS, check gas valve coil resistances (Valve 1 and Valve 2: each 1.5 kΩ–2.5 kΩ) and replace gas valve if out of range.

  7. 7

Check igniter resistance (50–800 Ω); replace if open circuit.

  8. 8

Check flame detector (open at 370°F max, close at 320°F, closed resistance less than 1 Ω); replace if faulty.

  9. 9

Check hi-limit thermostat (open at 203±4°F, close at 158±4°F) and safety thermostat (open at 230±4°F, manual reset); replace faulty thermostats.
