Error Code 24
Freezer defrost heating element malfunction
Critical
Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue
Also displayed as: 24C
What This Means
Heater wire harness disconnected at Main PCB CN70_1 pins 7 and 3; Heater element burned out or open circuit; Heater shorted to ground; Bimetal overheating protector tripped; Main PCB defective
What actually causes this:
Defrost heater burned out or thermal fuse blew due to heater failure
First Thing to Check
Check if the freezer evaporator coils have excessive frost — a failed heater prevents defrosting
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Unplug refrigerator
- 2
2. Disconnect Main PCB CN70_1 wire harness
- 3
3. Measure resistance between CN70_1-7 and CN70_1-3 — normal 63 ohm ± 7% (230 ohm ± 7% at different power input)
- 4
4. If resistance is 0 ohm: heater is shorted, replace heater
- 5
5. If resistance is infinite: wire or bimetal is open, replace heater or check wire
- 6
6. If resistance is normal: check bimetal thermal protector (Off 60°C, On 40°C) and thermal fuse (109-110°C cutoff)
