Error Code 83
Compressor drawing too much electrical current
Critical
Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue
Also displayed as: 83C
What This Means
Compressor winding short circuit; Compressor piston or rotor mechanically stuck; Inverter gate drive signal distorted or weak; Inverter PCB soldering defect or short circuit; Compressor current sensor defective
What actually causes this:
Compressor motor shorted or mechanically stuck
First Thing to Check
Listen carefully for grinding or unusual sounds from compressor
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
1. Check compressor power connectors are properly seated
- 2
2. Inspect Inverter PCB soldering for bridges or damage
- 3
3. Check if compressor makes grinding or unusual noises
- 4
4. Verify DC 15V from SMPS is at least 13.5V
- 5
5. Use oscilloscope to check gate drive waveform to compressor
- 6
6. If waveform is distorted, replace Inverter PCB
- 7
7. If waveform is normal but current still abnormal, compressor may be shorted internally
