Error Code FREEZER-SENSOR

Freezer temperature sensor is failing or disconnected

Moderate

Also displayed as: F blinks

What This Means

Disconnected or damaged wiring harness at CN20; Failed thermistor (502AT) — open circuit (infinite ohms) or short circuit (0 ohms); Corroded or bent connector pins at CN20; Cold-solder joint or solder bridge on Main PCB near R224 (IC01 MICOM pin 7)

What actually causes this:

The little thermistor that tells the fridge how cold the freezer is has failed or come unplugged. Without it the refrigerator guesses at the temperature.

First Thing to Check

Open the freezer and visually confirm the sensor wire harness is plugged in securely at the back of the compartment.

Parts Involved

Freezer thermistor (502AT)Main PCBCN20 connector harness

How to Fix

  1. 1

Check that Main PCB connector CN20 is fully seated

  2. 2

Measure voltage at CN20 pin 10 (YEL) to pin 12 (YEL) — must be 0.6V to 4.6V for normal operation

  3. 3

If voltage is out of range, disconnect CN20 and measure resistance between pin 10 and pin 12; compare to DATA1 temperature table (e.g., 5.039 kΩ at 77°F/25°C)

  4. 4

If resistance is 0 Ω, sensor is shorted; if ∞ Ω, sensor is open — replace thermistor

  5. 5

If resistance is correct but voltage is still abnormal, inspect PCB solder at R224 (IC01 MICOM pin 7)
