Address soon - your appliance may not work properly
Also displayed as: F and R blink alternately (main-panel communication error — items 38 and 41 in self-diagnosis list)
What This Means
Loose or damaged ribbon/harness cable between main and panel PCB; Failed panel PCB MICOM; Failed main PCB communication circuit; Water or corrosion on connector pins
What actually causes this:
The wire connecting the control panel on the door to the main control board inside has broken or the communication circuit on one of the boards has failed.
First Thing to Check
Try unplugging the refrigerator for 30 seconds and reconnecting — a power reset sometimes clears communication faults.
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
Check all wiring connections between main PCB and panel PCB, especially through the upper door hinge
- 2
Check door hinge wiring routing for any pinched or broken wires
- 3
Use an oscilloscope to verify serial communication signal is present on the communication line
- 4
If cable is good, replace Panel PCB first; if fault remains, replace Main PCB
