What actually causes this:
The door lock motor or latch mechanism has worn out from normal use.
First Thing to Check
Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and try closing the door again.

1. Check Door-Lock SW terminal connections and contacts

2. Check Reed SW resistance: approximately 0.2 ohms between terminals (White-Green Wire)

3. Check the motor resistance: 34-51 ohms (Black-Brown Wire)

4. Check Lock/Unlock contact resistance: approximately 0.2 ohms (Lock: White-Red Wire, Unlock: White-Blue Wire)

5. Check the main PBA door sensing circuit

6. If resistance values are not within spec, replace the door lock assembly or PBA
