What This Means

What actually causes this:
The water supply froze in winter, so the heater turned on with an empty tub and overheated.
First Thing to Check
Check if your water supply pipes are frozen. If it is cold outside, feel the water hoses at the back of the washer — if they are stiff or icy, they are frozen.
