What actually causes this:
Debris is preventing the water inlet valve from fully closing, or the valve is wearing out
First Thing to Check
This is usually an early warning — the dishwasher should still work normally for now

1. Check water valve for foreign material preventing full closure

2. Check water valve coil resistance (disconnect first) — Normal: approximately 990 ohms +/-10%

3. If valve is leaking when de-energized, replace water valve
