Error Code 24
Freezer defrost heater or its protection device has failed
Critical
Stop using immediately - risk of damage or safety issue
Also displayed as: F and R LEDs blink (item 24)
What This Means
Open freezer defrost heater element; Open bimetal protector (trips at 140°F / 60°C); Blown thermal fuse (228-230°C); Wiring disconnection at CN70; Short in heater (0 ohm reading)
What actually causes this:
The heater that melts frost off the freezer evaporator is broken or its safety cutoff has tripped, causing ice buildup
First Thing to Check
Power off the unit and measure heater resistance at CN70 pins 3-1 with a multimeter before anything else
Parts Involved
How to Fix
- 1
Separate CN70 wire from PCB
- 2
Measure resistance between CN70 pin 3 (BLU) and CN70 pin 1 (BLK); should be 63 ohm +8%
- 3
0 ohm indicates heater short; very high/infinite resistance indicates open heater, bimetal, or thermal fuse
- 4
Check bimetal continuity separately
- 5
Check thermal fuse continuity
