What This Means

Disconnected or loose defrost sensor connector; Open or shorted fridge defrost thermistor; Wiring damage between sensor and PCB; Bimetal or thermal fuse has opened

What actually causes this:

The fridge defrost sensor has failed, preventing proper defrost cycle termination and potentially causing ice buildup

First Thing to Check

Locate the fridge defrost sensor on the fridge evaporator and ensure its connector is firmly plugged in

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Check voltage at CN51 pin 12 (W/BLU) to pin 13; should be 4.5V to 1.0V

  2. 2

    Measure sensor resistance and compare to DATA1 temperature table

  3. 3

    Check bimetal continuity at room temperature

  4. 4

    Check thermal fuse continuity
