What This Means

Ice maker thermistor open or shorted; Connector CN91-2 or CN91-1 loose; Ice maker sensor wire damaged; Moisture/ice damage to sensor

What actually causes this:

The sensor that tells the ice maker when temperatures are cold enough to harvest ice has failed, so the ice maker may stop working.

First Thing to Check

Remove the ice bucket and inspect the ice maker sensor wire and its connector at the back of the ice maker.

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Check voltage at MAIN PCB CN91-2 to CN91-1: should be between 1.0V and 4.5V

  2. 2

    Disconnect CN91 and measure resistance at pins 7 and 12

  3. 3

    0 ohm = short trouble; infinite ohm = open trouble

  4. 4

    Check MICOM IC01 pin #14 (R925 on PCB)
