What This Means

R-DEF thermistor failed; Connector CN30-3 or CN30-4 loose or disconnected; Wiring damage near refrigerator evaporator

What actually causes this:

The sensor that stops the fridge defrost cycle has failed, potentially causing excessive frost buildup or water on shelves.

First Thing to Check

Remove the refrigerator evaporator cover and inspect the defrost sensor and its connector.

How to Fix

  1. 1

    Check voltage at MAIN PCB CN30-3 to CN30-4: should be between 1.0V and 4.5V

  2. 2

    Disconnect CN30 and measure resistance at pins 3 and 4

  3. 3

    Check MICOM IC01 pin #3 voltage (R303 on PCB)

  4. 4

    Compare to DATA1 temperature table
